The United States is composed of 70% volunteer or on call fire departments just like Berkley. If it wasn’t for those individuals, most of the United States would go without emergency services.

Berkley’s call volume continues to grow, doubling over the past 20 years. Since then, Berkley has had the same staffing levels driving up demand for full time and on call personnel.

Do you think you have what it takes? Here is a video from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy to give you a perspective of the process to become an on call firefighter. If interested download an application or come in to speak with some of our firefighters to answer any questions.
