Firefighter/EMT Steven Hutchins has completed a 172 hour Massachusetts accredited certificate program that is designed to prepare students to function in the field as pre-hospital care providers. The curriculum follows National Standard Curriculum and meets and/or exceeds the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) requirements. Through classroom and hands-on training, Hutchins learned how to manage emergencies in the pre-hospital environment including but not limited to: medical, traumatic, obstetric, psychiatric, pediatric, geriatric, and environmental emergencies. Firefighter/EMT Hutchins has completed this course and sat for the National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician certification practical and written exams which he has PASSED!
Firefighter/EMT Steven Hutchins has been a member of the Berkley Fire & Rescue Department since March of 2016. He has completed his Pro Board Firefighter I/II certification with the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in 2017. Hutchins has done all of this while owning and operating his own business Hutchins Enterprises (Landscaping and yard maintenance). He has been as asset to the Berkley Fire Department volunteering for events and responding to calls in his free time. The town of Berkley and The Berkley Fire Chief are extremely proud of him and would like to extend their gratitude and service to the Town of Berkley.
